First Drive: 2017 Nissan Titan

Truck offers plenty of power, creature comforts.

by on Aug.11, 2017

The 2017 Nissan Titan features a strong grille that is often the hallmark of popular full-size pickups.

Trucks are in right now and their strong appeal has helped keep showrooms humming and factories busy.

One of the reasons that trucks are so popular is that they are solid and appealing vehicles. Case in point is Nissan Titan, which faces off against enormously popular Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.

The Titan may not command the loyalty of the American brands but it is made in the United States in Canton, Mississippi, and it has the rugged style, driving characteristics, dynamics and features that Nissan’s competitors have used to define and re-define the segment in recent years. (more…)

Nissan Ready to Storm Full-Size Truck Set with New Titan

Maker's next-gen Titan coming late 2016.

by on Dec.03, 2015

Nissan's next-generation Titan full-size pickup will hit dealer show rooms late in 2016.

The hot-selling full-size pickup truck segment is getting another new player: Nissan confirmed that the newly redesigned version of its full-size Titan pickup will make its debut towards the end of 2016.

The replacement for the Titan, which was first introduced in 2003 as a 2004 model, has been a long time coming. It will mark a new assault on the U.S. pickup truck market by Nissan.

Redesigned Nissan Titan Aims to Crack Detroit’s Hold on Full-Size Pickup Market

Much-delayed Japanese truck gets new high-mileage turbodiesel.

by on Jan.12, 2015

Nissan's all-new Titan full-size pickup truck is taking aim at a market dominated by Detroit's Big Three.

If at first you don’t succeed…? Well, Nissan is ready to try again with the launch of the newly redesigned Titan full-size pickup. The long-delayed truck will take aim at the last segment of the U.S. market overwhelmingly dominated by Detroit’s Big Three.

The maker hopes to create what it is describing as a “new class,” within the huge pickup segment, targeting those, it says, who want “the capability of a heavy-duty hauler with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup.”

Auto Show News!

Two versions of the 2016 Titan will be offered, a base model, and the heavier-duty XD line that is the focus of Nissan’s push at this year’s North American International Auto Show. And the emphasis, at launch, will be on a new Cummins turbodiesel engine that the maker promises will deliver the best of both worlds: plenty of stump-pulling torque and great fuel economy. (more…)

Nissan Crowdsourcing Design of Next Titan Pickup

Building “the ultimate off-road capable truck.”

by on Jan.17, 2014

The next-generation Nissan Titan will be getting a much-needed diesel option.

Long an also-ran in the full-size truck market, Nissan wants to come out swinging when it launches an all-new version of the Titan pickup a few years from now – so it’s asking current owners and potential buyers to help design precisely the truck that they would want.

As part of what the Japanese maker is calling “Project Titan,” it is turning to the social media, using crowdsourcing to “build the ultimate off-road capable truck,” the maker explained during an announcement at the 2014 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas.  The project car will be produced and turned over to a wounded veteran.

Keep on Truckin'!

But what comes out of the crowdsourcing effort, Nissan suggests, will influence what it does with the next Titan model.

“Nissan is invested in designing the most innovative trucks ever,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales and Marketing, Parts and Service in the U.S. “Projects like this allow us to gather input directly from industry leading media members and those companies that embrace an outdoor lifestyle in their work and play, helping us deliver trucks that buyers want to own.”

Nissan Planning New Titan for Likely 2015 Debut

More body styles, powertrain options aimed to enhance appeal.

by on Feb.07, 2013

The current Nissan Titan is a marginal player in the big pickup market.

One thing the Japanese have demonstrated, over and over again, is that they live by the old adage, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” And nowhere is that more apparent than in the full-size truck market.

Despite repeated attempts, Nissan and Toyota have failed to dislodge Detroit’s firm grip on the huge and highly profitable segment. But even as the bigger of the two makers gets ready to reveal an all-new version of the Tundra pickup during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan officials are confirming that they’re working up a replacement for their own full-size offering, the Titan.

News You Can Use!

Japanese officials, hoping to grab a bit of Toyota’s spotlight, announced they are “prepared for (the) long haul” and are “moving fast” to launch an “all-new” version of Titan.  While they didn’t have much else to say about their plans, TheDetroitBureau.com has learned some significant additional details from Nissan planners attending the Chicago Auto Show.
