Can 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Topple Ford’s King-of-the-Hill F-Series?

Chevy’s complete makeover brings eight distinct models, new powertrains, including high-mileage diesel.

Design Director Mike Simcoe reveals how the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado went from design sketch to design masterpiece.

While SUVs have garnered most of the spotlight, pickups have been building momentum at a frantic pace over the last several years and, barring a complete economic meltdown or a surge past $4 a gallon for gas, few expect to see demand for those tough trucks taper off anytime soon.

So, General Motors’ timing could be particularly fortuitous as it prepares to roll out complete makeovers of its full-size pickup line-up. The process begins with the unveiling of the all-new, 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at this week’s North American International Auto Show – and will continue when the Silverado HD and GMC Sierra pickups make their debut later this year.

First Look: 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

Chevy focuses on new steel alloys, rather than aluminum, with new truck.

by on Dec.18, 2017

Chevy is looking to lower the boom on its competition with a redesigned 2019 Silverado.

If there was a state car of Texas it would almost certainly be the pickup truck, a good reason why Chevrolet headed down to Dallas to give the world a first look at the 2019 Silverado.

Chevy is hoping the next-generation pickup will help it close in on the full-size segment’s sales leader, the Ford F-Series. Like its rival, the new Silverado boasts a new stylish exterior and plenty of new safety and infotainment technologies. But in sharp contrast to Ford’s shift to lightweight aluminum, Chevy says it’s sticking with steel.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will turn to “a higher-grade alloy (for) the roll-formed, high-strength-steel bed floor, contributing to a bed that is more functional and lighter weight,” General Motors’ largest division explained. (more…)

by on Jul.13, 2015

Chevy is giving folks an early look at the new 2016 Silverado.

New vehicle sales are booming and with the new “norm” of lower gas prices, full-size trucks are storming out of dealer showrooms. While much of the news about new trucks centers on Ford’s new F-150, Chevy’s enjoying a strong year as well and is poised heat up the competition with its rival with a new 2016 Silverado.

Silverado sales are up 14.6% so far this year, compared with Ford F-Series sales being down 2.4% due in large measure to production issues early in the new truck’s run. The brand hopes to continue the run this fall with the introduction of the newly updated 2016 Silverado.

News You Can Trust!

“The redesigned 2016 Silverado will build on Chevy Trucks’ legacy of dependability. It will feature a more muscular appearance and offer new customer-focused technologies,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks, in a statement. (more…)

Chevy Hopes Buyers Will Rally Around New Silverado Rally Editions

Adding spice to a solid work truck.

by on Aug.21, 2014

Chevrolet is looking to jump start Silverado sales with a new Rally edition of the full-size pickup.

A decade back, “urban cowboys” made up a sizable slice of the pickup market. That niche largely vanished as the nation fell back into recession, and though truck sales are bouncing back big right now, the bulk of the buyers need their vehicles for work and chores, rather than to show off in a suburban driveway.

But Chevrolet is hoping to expand the appeal of its big Silverado line with the launch of a new series of Rally Editions that, it promises, will give the truck a “new attitude.” It can use the help. Despite getting rave reviews – and winning the coveted North American Truck of the Year trophy in January, the recently redesigned Chevy Silverado’s sales haven’t gained the same level of momentum as rival products like the Ford F-150 and Fiat Chrysler’s Ram 1500.

“Silverado won more awards in 2014 than any other pickup,” notes John Fitzpatrick, Silverado senior marketing manager, adding his hope that “The Rally Edition packages will let customers add an aggressive new look to this great all-around performer.” (more…)
